THE PROJECT
To navigate the future with confidence, EU citizens need more than basic digital skills. Europe 4.0 Digital Citizens was created to close that gap, offering specialised education that helps people understand the technologies reshaping how we live and work, from AI to automation. The project supports citizens in actively participating in the Digital Decade, through an inclusive, high-quality digital education ecosystem. Our goal: a digitally capable, future-ready citizenry across Europe.
THE PARTNERSHIP
Seven organisations — from Poland, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Lithuania, Italy and Cyprus — have come together as a Strategic Partnership to tackle the digital skills gap across Europe. Through mutual learning and shared resources, the partnership also connects with established networks at local, national and European level, strengthening both impact and long-term sustainability.
INNOVATION
Europe 4.0 Digital Citizens stands out for three reasons:
- Responding to Industry 4.0 — Disruptive technologies are transforming work and daily life faster than ever. Millions of Europeans need retraining in tools and models that didn’t exist a decade ago — and this project helps make that possible.
- Bridging the digital divide — As basic ICT access becomes widespread, a new divide is emerging — shaped by education, age and income. This project prioritises those most at risk of being left behind: the poorest, least educated, and older citizens.
- Filling a gap in digital education — Advanced training in AI, robotics and cybersecurity is scarce, and usually reserved for experts or university students. This project opens that door to those who currently have the least access.
